Subject: Interested in joining your lab / research group on $X$

Dear Professor $P$,

I am $N$, a student majoring in $M$ at $U$. I am currently interested in $X$, especially $Y$.

I recently read your paper/project on $T$. My understanding is that this work focuses on $P_1$, and I found $P_2$ particularly interesting because it connects to $Q$. I am still new to this area, but I have started learning related background and trying to build up my research skills.

To prepare, I have done $A$, such as reading related papers, reproducing a small baseline, organizing notes, or building a toy example. One question I am currently thinking about is whether $H$ could improve / analyze / extend $Y$. I know this idea may still be immature, but I would be excited to explore it further.

I am not only looking for research experience, but also hoping to contribute consistently to a project. I can commit around $h$ hours per week and hope to work on this direction for at least $t$ months. I would be very happy to start with literature review, reproduction, data processing, experiment analysis, or any task that would be useful to the group.

If you are open to taking undergraduate / junior students, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to talk briefly and learn whether there might be a suitable way for me to contribute.

• 想清楚考试周、课程压力大时如何安排。
• 准备说明自己愿意从基础任务做起。

6. 发送邮件前检查

• 邮件不是群发模板，里面有具体论文或项目名称。
• 邮件里体现了自己的准备，而不是只说“我感兴趣”。
• 邮件里有自己的想法，即使还不成熟。
• 邮件里说明了自己可以贡献什么。
• 邮件简洁、礼貌、没有过度夸张。
